The sellar was honest and sent me an email stating that Amazon was not going to release my funds to them (which have been cashed since late November)due to them being a new customer with amazon. I understand the precautions amazon must have to take, but why does it have to affect my receiving my pocket medicine book. Would like to write a review of service and book, but do not have my product as of 12-22-08.
Summary: Great reference for any pharmacy or medical student
Rating: 5
This book is a great reference for any medical student or pharmacy student. I purchased this book for clerkship, as the medical students were always looking at it. Every common disease state is in there, as well as diagnostic criteria such as the Duke or Wells criteria. It also has a place where medical abbreviations are located which are handy when reading notes. It has a nice medication section for the ICUs, antibiotic, and other medications. I love this book!

Rating: 4
Very good book to keep close at hand. Valuable information when you need it. Not to detailed but this is what I like. Hits the stuff you need to know in a hurry. You can always go back for more details in our texts.
Summary: A must for Medicine rotation!
Rating: 5
This new edition has a very helpful color side index on right side of pages making it easier to find things more quickly. You'll need this book for your white coat. Good carry around pocket Medicine rotation review book.

Rating: 4Im a med student using this book for review for my Medicine shelf exam and I dont like some of the format of the "All of the above..." type answers and questions with "A AND B" as answers. But that said the book goes well with Harrison's textbook.
Summary: Just Great
Rating: 5It is one of the best self-assessment books... simple to use, easy to understand and very helpful to review the most updated concepts.. I would recommended it to any med student or resident...
Summary: Very good self-assesment book for Internal Medicine
Rating: 4Harrison's Principles of Internal Medicine: Self-assessment and Board Review, 16th ed.
This book has review choose-the-best-answer questions. Chapters include Introduction to clinical medicine, Genetics, Oncology and Hematology, Infectious Diseases, Disorders of cardiovascular system, Disorders of the respiratory system, Critical care medicine, Disorders of the kidney and urinary tract, Disorders of the GI system, Rheumatology and immunology, Endocrinology and metabolism, and Neurologic disorders. The book was published in 2005, and has about 360 pages.
Pros:
1. Will review many topics related to different disciplines of internal medicine. You will be asked questions related to common and very rare diseases.
2. Great explanations to the questions.
3. Well-referenced answers with relevant chapter(s) in Harrison's Principles of Internal Medicine to enable you to read further.
4. 19 Questions have colored pictures which are presented at the end of the book.
Cons:
1. No normal common lab ranges provided.
2. The units of some lab values are American e.g. mg/dL.
3. Some questions have spelling or editing mistakes e.g. in Infectious Disease section, the stem of question number 12 is duplicated.
4. Some questions are not well-written. For example, some questions have options such as (A and B).
5. Many questions are not case-based.
6. Some questions have stems which begin with "All but which of the following ...", or, "All the following is .... except", or, "Which of the following is not correct?". The only advantage of these types of questions is that they measure factual information directly.
7. Some imaging pictures are not good quality, such as question X-35 on Rheumatology, page 278. There are many black-and-white pictures.=-=-=-=

Summary: Sadly outdated on some conditions
Rating: 2
I was disappointed to see that the section on Male Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome (aka chronic prostatitis) was simply out of date and incorrect, saying that the cause was infectious. We have over a decade of research pointing away from this conclusion, but seemingly Harrison's has been asleep during all these advances.
Summary: diamand point

It's really amaizing. The quality as a book wich is increase ( in page quality , in colour illustration etc.)
The thing I appreciate most is the fact in wich you have the entire cycle of the medicine into and describe in a master form that I've finded only in "Harrison". The other things you make not is that the book consider you an idiot and in his end makes you a genius...a miracle isn't it.That's what we needs "miracles"...
Summary: This is the ONE BIG book version! Other hardcover edition has whole text in 2 volumes!
Rating: 5
Giving a poor review beacuse you bought the complete text in ONE large hardcover version versus the other Hardcover Two Volume version is misleading.
This is a GREAT book for home reading, and yes you can look up current articles and have a huge pile of medical information that may be the most current but this book puts it all together for you.
If you liked reading Robbins Pathology as an M2, just buy this book for your M3...and choose 1)one big volume version or 2)the split 2 volume version...both are COMPLETE texts that add up to the same number pages. :)
Summary: SUPERB.

Harrison is still the bible for internal medicine.
